I'm degreed as a creative writer, and I've had my work published in magazines, journals, anthologies, and on the radio and web. I'm most proud of this kind of writing, which includes short stories, creative nonfiction, memoirs, essays, and commentaries -- they're far more personal and come from a much deeper place.

In 2003, my creative writing was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

The following are places where I've published or read my work aloud:

NPR's All Things Considered
KQED Public Radio's Hot Soup
KRCB-FM's Word by Word
KWMR-FM's Turning Pages
