I've worked for fifteen years as a reporter and critic for print, radio, and the web. I began my j-career covering music, and have written for many years now about art and design; I also write about politics and issues of sustainability. But I've also published two Internet books; edited three travel guides; penned magazine columns on topics from golf to technology; given presentations at design and music conferences; and appeared on speaking panels.

As a reporter, my work has been nominated for a Music Journalism Award and an RTNDA Award. And Print, where I'm a contributing editor, won the National Magazine Award four times, most recently in 2008.

The following is a partial list of publications I've written for:

Wired
HotWired
Entertainment Weekly
NPR's All Things Considered
KQED Public Radio's The California Report
Magnet
San Francisco Chronicle
San Francisco Bay Guardian
Artweek
SF Weekly
SF Gate
Preservation
